Deploying a Live Show
Understanding the Deployment Flow
Deploying a show requires these steps:
- Editor – Prepare your script
- Simulation – Preview and verify
- Finalize – Create deployment job
- Go Live – Configure and deploy
Step 1 – Preview in Simulation Mode
Before deploying, you must verify your script in Simulation Mode:
- Click the "▶" button in the Script Editor to open Simulation
- Preview your subtitles and verify everything looks correct
- Navigate through cues to check all lines
- Make any necessary adjustments in the Editor
Note: See the Using Simulation Mode guide for detailed instructions.
Step 2 – Finalize the Script
When everything looks good:
- Click "Looks Good! Finalize and Push" (bottom-right corner)
- This creates a deployment-ready job
- You'll be redirected to the Go Live page

Note: Only Owners and Managers can finalize scripts.
Step 3 – Configure Deployment
On the Go Live page, complete the following fields:

Deployment Server Location *
Select the data center closest to your audience:
- US (example: USA, Canada, Mexico, etc.)
- Europe (example: UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Greece, etc.)
- Asia (example: Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, Hong Kong, etc.)
* Free tier cannot deploy. Lite tier limited to US only. Pro tier can access all regions.
Operator Login Credentials *
Set username and password for accessing the operator control panel during the show:
- Username: Choose something memorable
- Password: Minimum 8 characters
Scheduled End Date (Pro only)
Set when the deployment should expire:
- Lite: Fixed 7-day visible window
- Pro: Up to 30-day visible window (can extend later)
Custom Link Name (Pro only)
Choose a custom URL: surtitle.live/viewer/your-show
5-25 lowercase characters. Leave blank to auto-generate.
Step 4 – Deploy
Review the warning notice and click the deploy button:
⚠️ Live Performance Notice: This deployment creates a persistent cloud runtime. Once deployed, the service cannot be paused. Ensure you are ready for the show to go live before proceeding.
The system will process your deployment request. You'll see status updates in real-time.
Managing Your Deployment
After deployment, you can manage your live show from the project page:
Update Live Subtitles
If you make changes to your script in the Editor after deployment:
- Go to Dashboard → Projects
- Open your project
- In the Surtitle deployment settings section, find your active deployment
- Click "Update Live Subtitles"
- The system will push your latest script changes to the live deployment without interrupting the show
Extend Duration (Pro only)
If you need more time for your show:
- Go to Dashboard → Projects
- Open your project
- In the Surtitle deployment settings section, find your active deployment
- Click "Extend Duration"
- Select the new end date (up to your plan's maximum)
- Confirm the extension
Note: Lite tier deployments are fixed at a 7-day visible window and cannot be extended. Pro tier can extend the visible window up to 30 days. Runtime cleanup applies an additional 1-day backend buffer.
Rotate ASM Credentials
For security, you can change the operator login credentials during the show:
- Go to Dashboard → Projects
- Open your project
- In the Surtitle deployment settings section, click "Rotate ASM Credentials"
- Set new username and password
- The change takes effect immediately
End Deployment
When your show is complete, you can delete the deployment to stop billing and free up your deployment slot. This action cannot be undone.
After Deployment
Once complete, you'll receive two links:
- Viewer Link – Audience viewing interface (can be projected or accessed via QR code)
- ASM Link – Your operator console for controlling subtitles during the show
