Restoring Your Project

Restoring from Backup

Currently, SurtitleLive does not support direct import of Excel or PowerPoint files. To restore a script:

  1. Create a new script in your project
  2. Upload the original document file (.docx, .txt, etc.) if you still have it
  3. Or manually copy text from your backup Excel file into the Editor

Tip: Always keep your original script files (.docx, .txt) as the primary backup. Exported files are for convenience and sharing, not for system restoration.

Using Your Backup Files

When you have an exported backup file:

From Excel Backup (.xlsx)

  1. Open the Excel file to review the content
  2. Copy text from the appropriate columns
  3. Paste into the Editor's corresponding language columns
  4. Review and adjust formatting as needed

From Original Document

  1. Upload the original .docx, .txt, or other supported file
  2. Run AI analysis to structure the script
  3. Add back any translations from your backup Excel

Best Practices

  • Always maintain a copy of your original script files (.docx, .txt)
  • Export backups before major changes
  • Keep backups organized with clear filenames and dates
  • Store backups in multiple locations (local + cloud)

Important: While you can use Excel exports as a reference, they cannot be directly imported back into SurtitleLive. Always preserve your original document files for full restoration.
