Work offline and apply updates
Keep local projection available, reconnect phone control, and open new show versions safely.
Offline operation, updates, and recovery
Purpose: Know what you can continue offline and when you need cloud or phone connectivity.
Before you begin: To prepare for offline use, Sync while connected and confirm the encrypted local cache, signed show package, and offline unlock credentials are available. Use the signed / unlock expiry shown for that show; do not infer it from the Sync date.
How to reopen offline: Launch Pockitle Cue for Mac, choose the previously synced local show, select Open Live Console, enter its ASM password, then select Unlock ASM. This works only while the local package and offline credentials remain valid. Local projection can work while phone control is disconnected.
What you can continue when the cloud is disconnected
- If offline requirements are met, you can unlock a synced show locally with its ASM password before expiry, open Console, and operate local projection. Offline unlock requires valid offline verifier credentials; syncing the show does not guarantee they were issued.
- Phone captions use cloud control. If the network drops, local projection may continue while Viewer remains on an older cue or shows offline. After internet returns, follow the status and select
Reconnect audience service. When the local cue is correct and the app allows it, selectSend current state. Wait for Phone Connected / synced status and verify with a test phone. - If the cloud responds but rejects the ASM password, offline operation will not treat a rejected password as a network problem. Check the show and password, retry when connected, or contact the show administrator.
Expired sign-in, rejected password, or control taken over
- Account session expired: This usually affects Refresh, Sync, and cloud management; it does not necessarily stop valid local projection immediately. Keep the show safe, then reconnect and sign in again.
- ASM password rejected: Confirm that you are using this show’s ASM password, not your Pockitle Cue account password. Check the show and deployment, then ask the administrator to confirm the current password.
- Control replaced or Viewer out of sync: Stop QLab following, switch to manual, and check the local cue first. If another controller took over, select
Connect audience service. If the app is offline, selectReconnect audience service. SelectSend current stateonly when the local cue is correct and the app allows it. Do not claim phones recovered until Cloud confirms.
The correct flow after changing captions in Web Editor
- Edit and save captions in Web Editor, then publish the update using Update Live in Editor or Update Live Subtitles in Deployment Cockpit. Saving an Editor draft alone does not update the live version.
- For a normal new version, Sync in Pockitle Cue for Mac. Downloading does not switch the show currently open. End the show, close the outputs, return to the list, and open the new version.
- If Console shows
New subtitles available, this is the current in-show text update path. It accepts text-only changes where cue count, order, characters, languages, and other structure remain the same. - Before Go Live or during intermission, wait until
Apply subtitlesis enabled, then select it. During intermission, Pockitle Cue for Mac temporarily blacks out phones while applying. Pockitle Cue for Mac then resynchronizes the current cue position; check Viewer status when it finishes. This preserves the current cue position. A version that changes cue structure requires ending the show, syncing, and opening the full new version. - If the button is disabled, the update fails, or positions do not match, do not keep applying or guess the cue. Finish intermission / show safely, then contact the administrator with the support code.
Expected result and audience impact: Updates must be saved and deployed in Web, then explicitly received by Pockitle Cue for Mac. A full new version becomes current only when you open it. The restricted text update is available only when Pockitle Cue for Mac displays and enables it.
If something goes wrong: For Sync failure, check account, network, and show access, then Refresh and retry Sync once. If a version is incompatible or fails verification, keep the current usable show and do not clear the cache. Give the error code to support.
